Wakefield Resident Donates Over 3,000 Phones to Domestic Violence Victims
Local parishioner Lillian O'Donnell contributes more than 3,000 phones to HopeLine® from Verizon.

For the last 14 years, Wakefield resident Lillian O’Donnell has worked with the parishioners of the Immaculate Conception Church in Malden to collect used cell phones to benefit HopeLine from Verizon.
Hopeline recycles used cell phones, batteries and accessories in any condition and uses the funds generated to donate phones, airtime and funding to domestic violence victims throughout the United States. These phones provide a safe line of communication to their family, loved ones and employers.
Pastor Albert Capone and fellow parishioners have supported the cause over the years. Upon entering the church, donation boxes are at each entrance, encouraging visitors to donate their used cell phones. To date, she has collected more than 3,000 phones to benefit domestic violence organizations throughout the country.
