Wakefield Town Day Schedule Changed Due To Forecasted Storm

WAKEFIELD, MA — Town Day in Wakefield has been canceled due to the storm predicted for this weekend.

The Town of Wakefield released the following statement on the cancellation:

Unfortunately, the National Weather Service is forecasting high winds and rain this weekend, with gusts having the potential to reach 40 mph across eastern Massachusetts. Due to these conditions, we’ve made the very difficult decision to cancel Town Day, which was scheduled for this Saturday, September 26.

The nor’easter will bring significant wind and rainfall, and there are safety concerns using tents in the strong winds. In addition, some exhibitors have voiced hesitation about participating given the weather conditions. Because the forecast extends to Sunday (our scheduled rain date), we need to cancel the event entirely. While we are disappointed that the weather has changed our plans, we appreciate your understanding and look forward to seeing you next year.

The Wakefield Area Chamber of Commerce will contact exhibitors to arrange application refunds.

If you had an appointment at either the Farmers Market or Town Day flu clinic on Saturday, a member of the Health Department will be in touch to reschedule your appointment, as both flu clinics will be cancelled. If you did not have an appointment but planned to get your vaccination, please consider one of the other clinics scheduled this fall.
