Wakefield Youth Council, Human Rights Commission Collect Donations
Community members are invited to participate in the 2025 Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Project.

WAKEFIELD, MA — The Wakefield Human Rights Commission and the Wakefield Youth Council invite community members to participate in the 2025 Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Project. This year, volunteers are asking the community to donate hats, gloves, and socks. Once the donation period is complete, there is opportunity to help sort, pack and deliver the donations. Donated items can be new or gently used (except socks) and clean. Event organizers also welcome suggestions for recipient facilities and organizations via email at whrc@wakefield.ma.us.
The donation collection launch is on Monday, January 20, 2025, at the Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King Day Celebration at the Galvin Middle School. Donation collection will continue through February 7 at several drop-off locations around Wakefield (to be announced). Volunteer sorting, packaging, and delivery of donations is planned will occur on for the morning of Saturday, February, 8, 2025, in the Heritage Room at the Americal Civic Center., located at 467 Main Street.
