WCAT Hosts 25th Birthday Bash Aug. 4th by Lake Quannapowitt
Come celebrate WCAT's 25th Bday with balloon creations, costume parade, free ice cream and Pixar movie about the emotions of an 11 year-old!

On Thursday Aug. 4th, Wakefield Community Access TV (WCAT) is celebrating its 25th Birthday with a big party by Lake Quannapowitt! The Staff and Board of Directors welcome the public to enjoy bubbles, face-painting, balloon creations, a costume contest with prizes (for young pirates and princesses), a bit of trivia, bells ringing from the First Parish Congregational Church and free ice cream! Please join the festivities, beginning at 6:30, before settling into the evening’s feature movie, a Pixar spectacular about the emotions of an 11-year old girl!
“Over the past 25 years, WCAT has become part of the fabric of Wakefield,” said Tom Stapleton, Executive Director. “Our staff and crew enjoy covering the many annual and special public events around town and thought we’d say ‘thank you’ by sharing our special milestone-marking birthday with Wakefield.”
This summer WCAT, the Recreation Department, and local sponsors have hosted “Movies by the Lake” every other Thursday. The night of August 4th is super special with a big birthday party. Of course, Pixar fans won’t want to miss the ingenious 2015 movie (we can’t publish the title) about the emotions of Riley – Joy, Anger, Disgust, Fear and Sadness – personified by Amy Poehler, Lewis Black, Mindy Kaling, Bill Hader and Phyllis Smith.

WCAT was established in 1990 to offer Wakefield a communication platform for dialogue, civic engagement and perspectives not generally available through commercial media. Since then, through its public and government channels, WCAT has presented hundreds of events, issues and discussions unique and important to this area, as well as dozens of member-created programs and award-winning documentaries.
The festivities will begin at 6:30 pm. Children age 7 and under and age 8 to 12 are encouraged to compete for the best pirate or princess costume! Judging starts at 7:45 pm. The Beebe Library will hold a book sign-out booth and all party goers can enjoy free Cool Cow ice cream, courtesy of WCAT. (Pick up a ticket at the WCAT truck). We encourage attendees to bring a non-perishable food item for the Food pantry. The movie will begin at nightfall (approximately 8:30 pm).
