Write After Dinner: Writing Seriously From Scratch

Join us Friday, October 21st at 7:30pm at The Albion Cultural Exchange located at 9 Albion Street, Wakefield, MA for “Write After Dinner”. Chef Joe Gatto of the cooking show From Scratch and author of the newly released cookbook Seriously From Scratch will talk about how it takes more than just gathering recipes to write a cookbook. Joe will talk about his decision to turn down a ghost writer and write using his own voice, which resulted in an approachable, entertaining and sometimes downright hilarious walk through the kitchen with Joe where his wife, his two kids and his mom are part of the mix.

Joe will demonstrate how to make mozzarella cheese showing just how simple “from scratch” can be. Coffee and tea will be available along with something for your sweet tooth. This is a free event sponsored by The Room to Write and The Albion Cultural Exchange, however, donations of any amount and/or non-perishable food items will be collected along with 10% of Seriously From Scratch cookbook purchases to benefit Wakefield’s Interfaith Food Pantry because everybody should have access to something delicious.

Bring your favorite recipe or have one in mind and we will provide the materials and guidance you need to find your own voice through which you can write the story behind your recipe that can stand alone or be the start of a collection of recipes to give as a gift to loved ones and friends. There is no more personal or treasured gift than a book of family recipes and the stories behind them.

Joe’s new cookbook, Seriously From Scratch, will be available for purchase as well as signing and personalizing. Seriously From Scratch is also at your local Barnes & Noble and you are welcome to bring the book you already own along for Joe to personalize.
