Longview Farm Invites Walpole Neighbors to Art Exhibit

The Home for Little Wanderers invites the community to a free art and creative writing exhibit. The Home’s 24th Annual Voices & Visions Creative Writing and Art Exhibit marks its second year in Walpole at the non-profit’s Longview Farm Campus, 399 Lincoln Road, Walpole, MA on Thursday, May 15 from 5-7 p.m. and Friday, May 16, 2014 from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

This exhibit is open to the public and features artwork from children in The Home’s residential and special education programs. This year’s theme, “I Dream a World,” will be brought to life through the children’s unique voices and visions as they recreate memorable dream sequences, delve into the subconscious and the surreal, and reflect upon their hopes and aspirations for a better, brighter, more peaceful world. Join us as we embark on an odyssey inside the caring and insightful minds of children as we celebrate The Home and its role in helping youth on their personal journey toward a brighter future. Voices & Visions is an innovative year-long art project, which teaches positive ways of self-expression and encourages artistic development in children with emotional and behavioral challenges. The exhibit is a preview of the artwork that will be on display at The Home’s annual Voices & Visions fundraising gala on May 21, 2014 at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston.

Every child in The Home’s care has a story to tell. Creative writing and visual arts provide a safe outlet for each to express their pain and fears, confront their challenges and imagine what is possible. Thanks to The Home’s supporters, we are able to enhance programming for children in many ways, including expanding visual arts, music and vocational education, and implementing a health and wellness initiative.
