'Dukes Of Hazzard' Star Tom Wopat Back In Waltham Court

'Luke Duke' Tom Wopat pleaded not guilty to charges that he indecently assaulted a teen.

WALTHAM, MA — Tom Wopat, the former star of 80's TV show "The Dukes of Hazzard" known for speeding cars and short shorts, once again faced a judge in Waltham on charges related to indecent assault, this time of a minor as Patch reported first in September. He pleaded not guilty to the charges, Channel 4 reported.

“Mr. Wopat’s been an entertainer for 40 years. He’s been in movies, TV, recording artist and given the state of affairs, if there had ever been a history of having any type of improper behavior, we all would have heard about it by now,” Wopat’s attorney, Neil Tassel told reporters after the arraignment. “He’s been nothing but a gentleman from everything we’ve ever heard.”

Wopat already pleaded not guilty to charges that he indecently assaulted an adult fellow cast member at a July arraignment after he was arrested on similar charges as well as possession of cocaine. Shortly after he posted on Facebook that he was seeking help for a cocaine problem.

Then in September, an underage teen came forward and told police that Wopat allegedly hit the girl's rear with his script, saying "nice butt," and made her feel uncomfortable. A court document also shows he also allegedly hung out near the girls dressing room and attempted to go in. (See more on the court documents here: "I'm a creepy old man, you're really talented and really cute," he told the girl)

He was arraigned Friday at the Waltham District Court on the new charges: one count of indecent assault and battery on a person over the age of 14 and two counts of accosting and annoying a person of the opposite sex.

Wopat played Luke Duke in the Dukes of Hazzard was supposed to play Julian Marsh in Reagle Music Theatre's production of "42nd Street."

These indecent assault charges come as several people are coming forward with stories of Hollywood stars sexually harassing or assaulting them. Recently Kevin Spacey was accused of sexually assaulting an 18-year-old on Nantucket. And today Newton native Louis C.K is under fire as five women have stepped forward accusing him of sexually assaulting them.
