Woman In Waltham Murder Identified

Police confirmed the death of a Waltham woman who was murdered on Sunday.

WALTHAM, MA — The woman who was found killed in her home on Adams Street in Waltham this weekend was 36-year-old Christin Tobin of Waltham, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Waltham Chief of Police Keith MacPherson have confirmed today.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has ruled the cause of death to be sharp force trauma.

Yesterday at around 2:40 a.m., Waltham Police responded to a report of an assault on a woman. Upon entering the home, police located the body of Tobin.

Derrick Lopez, 18, of Waltham, is currently in custody in connection with this incident and is charged with murder, assault and battery causing serious bodily injury and armed assault with intent to murder. These charges are allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The defendant will be arraigned tomorrow in Waltham District Court.
