Officials Want Public to Rat Out Watertown's Rodents

A meeting this week will let residents discuss the growing infestation and talk about possible solutions.

Watertown official are holding a public meeting Thursday to let residents talk about the city’s growing rats and rodents infestation, according to a Watertown News report.

Representatives from the Watertown Health Department and other officials will be at the meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, at the Apartments at Coolidge School, the report stated.

City officials were alerted to the rodent infestation after residents began complaining to East End Councilor Angeline Kounelis, the report stated. Kounelis then wrote a letter to the health department discussing the problem, the report added.

According to the report, the infestation has centered around the following streets:

  • Arlington Street
  • Belmont Street
  • Dewey Street
  • Prentiss Street
  • Salisbury Road
  • Templeton Parkway

Not only will residents be able to voice their issues with the infestation at Thursday’s meeting, they also will learn how to deal with the problem, as well as offer their own solutions, the report stated.
