WATCH: Watertown Celebrates Army Vet's 100th Birthday
Watertown resident and World War II veteran Sergeant Joseph Markarian had the whole town out on their lawns to celebrate his 100th birthday.
WATERTOWN, MA — First responders have started driving around Watertown in car parades for birthdays, as a way to celebrate and maintain distance to avoid spreading the new coronavirus. The town and first responders came together on Friday to celebrate the 100th birthday of one resident.
Watertown resident and World War II veteran Sergeant Joseph Markarian had the whole town out on their lawns and sidewalks, maintaining social distance, to celebrate his 100th birthday. Markarian served in the army during World War II and was also a long time music teacher at Hopkinton High School.
Fire trucks and first responder trucks rolled by with signs that read, "Happy 100th Birthday Joe," and "Thank you for your service."
