Watertown $17.3M Infrastructure Project Receives Award

The Belmont Street-Trapelo Road reconstruction project received a Bronze Award for improved safety and mobility among travelers.

WATERTOWN, MA – A $17.3 million infrastructure project between Belmont and Watertown is among seven construction initiatives across the state awarded by the American Council of Engineering Companies of Massachusetts. The Belmont Street-Trapelo Road reconstruction project received Bronze in the 2017 Engineering Excellence Awards competition, MassDOT announced Friday.

Projects were selected based upon uniqueness, originality, technical value to engineering, complexity and the extent to which they met the needs of the community.

"We are proud to be recognized for the success and importance of these important projects," Transportation Secretary and CEO Stephanie Pollack said in a statement. "We thank the MassDOT staff and personnel as well as the consultants, contractors, elected and local officials, and members of the public who played in role in developing and completing these projects and helping serve the needs of these local communities."
