WAYLAND, MA — Wayland's Annual Town Meeting began on Monday evening and is expected to continue for a second day.
Town Meeting will resume Tuesday, May 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Wayland High School Field House, 264 Old Connecticut Path. Officials expect to take up about 20 remaining articles as the meeting continues.
The meeting will resume with Article 22, proposed by the Planning Board. The article asks voters to approve minor, administrative updates to the town’s Zoning Bylaw.
Also still to come is Article 24, which would amend the Zoning Bylaw to allow certain accessory dwelling units. These are small residential living spaces located on the same lot as a primary home, according to the state. The issue has been under discussion in communities across Massachusetts as towns look for ways to expand housing options.
Articles 26 through 30, along with Article 41, focus on Sherman’s Bridge and Sherman’s Bridge Road. These articles address topics including vehicle weight limits, pedestrian walkways, neighborhood agreements and safety improvements.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. to allow attendees time to check in and receive electronic voting handsets. Officials recommend allowing 20 to 30 minutes for parking, check-in and receiving a voting device.
Parking will be available on site, but is limited. There are 475 marked parking spaces and 15 handicap-accessible spaces. Parking is not permitted on roadways or on grass anywhere on school grounds.
Printed copies of the warrant will be available at Town Meeting. Residents can also view the warrant online: 2026 Annual Town Meeting Warrant
