Get your ASK in gear!

How do you get your ASK in gear? Starting by asking yourself, "What is it that I want this person to do?"

I was the guest speaker at a luncheon recently and struck up a conversation with a gal from an social selling company who mentioned that she was networking, meeting some great people, but then she didn’t really know what to do with those new contacts once she got home.

We brainstormed for a few minutes about all of the things she could call and ASK those people. In the end, the single most important activity you can do to build your business is get comfortable asking people to do something.

So how do you get your ASK in gear? Starting by asking yourself, “What is it that I want this person to do?” I recommend taking each person on your contact list individually and asking yourself that question. What’s the answer?

  • I want to ask this person to host a group event
  • I want to ask this person to meet me for coffee and hear about my business
  • I want to ask this person to watch a video on my website and then hop on a call with me
  • I want to ask this person if they will try a sample
  • I want to ask this person to join me on our webinar, etc.

 

Typically when you do this exercise, you end up with 3 or 4 different asks and then you are able to divide your list into groups based on what I would like to ask them. I usually write out each ask - as more of a guideline than a script - but I am a fan of writing out my asks.

When you sit down to make your calls, call all of the people with the same ask one after another - you'll find you get into a groove and get better results when you group calls by ask.
