Join a Local Family in the Fight against AIDS
Izzi Lambrecht, a Weston High School student, organized a team for the Boston AIDS Walk: TEAM LAUREN. Lauren is Izzi's sister who LIVES with AIDS. Support TEAM LAUREN today to save lives!
Hello, my name is Izzi Lambrecht. I am currently a sophomore at the Weston High School. I am also a fighter in the battle against AIDS. Today, I invite you to join the fight against AIDS. Elizabeth Glaser, one of the first mothers who suffered from AIDS said, “Sometimes in life there is that moment when it’s possible to make a difference for the better. THIS IS ONE.” Although over 25 million people have died of AIDS-related causes, there is now hope that the disease will come to anEND. AIDS is no longer a death sentence. In fact, there is not yet a cure for AIDS infection; however, effective treatment with antiretroviral drugs can control the virus so that people with AIDS can enjoy healthy and productive lives. A prime example of a person LIVING with AIDS is my four year old sister, Lauren. In January 2012, Lauren joined my family after being adopted from Ghana. When people meet her, they have no idea that Lauren has AIDS. Lauren has a smile that can light up the room and constantly blows people away with her intelligence. Every member of my family feels blessed that we got the opportunity to adopt Lauren. If it were not for the treatment that Lauren has been provided with, perhaps my beautiful sister would not be living the healthy life that she lives now. On June 2, people all around the world will fight AIDS with World AIDS Day. In Boston, the 6.2 mile Boston Aids Walk takes place on June 2 at the DCR Hatch Shell. I have organized a team for this walk in honor of my younger sister... “TEAM LAUREN”. TEAM LAUREN helps to raise awareness to AIDS, as well as raising money so that EVERYBODY can receive effective treatment for AIDS. By supporting TEAM LAUREN, you support foundations that saved my sister’s life, and that will save others’ lives! To support TEAM LAUREN and fight AIDS, you can make a donation to the team TODAY. Please visit http://action.aac.org/goto/TEAMLAUREN if you are interested. Please know that every donation is greatly appreciated, and WILL make a difference. Together, we can bring AIDS to an end. There have been WAY too many World AIDS Days... let’s make this one be one of the last.
