No More Excuses!

If you're looking for a fast-paced, circuit-style workout that incorporates cardio, strength and agility then Bonnie's Bootcamp is for you!

I've been attending Bonnie's Bootcamp twice a week for a couple years now. I was originally drawn to the workout because I needed something to help me work on my abs and arms since all I seemed to do on my own was jog. I've stuck with it because it has done so much more than keep my upper body strong!

Bonnie's Bootcamp is a dynamic, fast-paced, circuit-style workout that incorporates cardio, strength and agility in 45 minutes. All you need is a jump rope, yoga mat and your own body weight to get a complete workout. But Bonnie is the secret ingredient in these workouts! She is a great motivator and dedicates herself to keeping the workouts interesting. Bonnie is really quite amazing at getting to know her clients and pushing us to work a little harder and go a little beyond our comfort zone without turning us off to the workout. But beyond being a really skilled trainer, Bonnie is just a great person. Her enthusiasm is contagious; her sense of humor is enjoyable; and her realistic approach to training is refreshing. These are the qualities that really keep me coming back for more.

You may wonder why you need to add circuit training to your workout schedule. After all, not many of us are world-class athletes training for competition that requires exceptional athletic performance. This is true, but I have benefitted from Bonnie's Bootcamp in many ways in my pretty ordinary existence. Beyond staying strong to keep up with my son and being able to lift my daughter numerous times a day, sticking with her program helped me to complete my first half-marathon last fall. It helped me to ski a little faster this winter, and when I had the opportunity to jump into a slalom course after a 20 year hiatus, not only was I ready but I had a great time and kicked a little butt. It helped prepare me for Tuckerman Ravine at Mount Washington this spring, where I hiked up with my skis and boots in my backpack and skied down from the top. And this past weekend, I joined a great group of bootcampers for my first "mudder" obstacle course race.

It's not that I needed to do any of these things, but they've all enriched my life. Bonnie's Bootcamp has helped to make that possible.

On a personal note, Bonnie is no stranger to the realities of life. For the past 4 years, Bonnie has put on a memorial event to raise money for ovarian cancer research. The event, Bonnie's Bootcamp Workout to Benefit Ovarian Cancer Research, was created in memory of Bonnie's mother, who died at the age of 66 after a brave 5-year battle with ovarian cancer. The annual fundraiser is a positive way for her to channel her overwhelming grief and has raised over $100,000 for ovarian cancer research.

Summer sessions of Bonnie's Bootcamp include Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Loker School in Wayland from 9:15-10:00am (register through Wayland Park and Rec) and Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at Lincoln-Sudbury High School at 6am.
