Wayland 375-Closing Thoughts and Special Thanks

Wayland 375 - Closing Thoughts - and Special Thanks

Saturday, June 15, 2015 is a day that I will remember as one of happy faces, laughter and fun.

That is what I saw each and every time, that I looked out onto the middle school field, with my co-events chair, Allison Tobia.  Each time we went to announce the Circus Performances the many young families who came out to celebrate the beautiful day - both in weather and in spirit was just the sentiment the Wayland 375 Commemoration Committee intended to bring to our Opening Day Celebration.

The concept of family, Town and celebration is how Wayland began, and how many of us, on this Committee want you to view our special Town of Wayland.

Our hope is that many of you got to experience just a little piece of this while attending one of the many events that took place on our Opening Day Celebration.  What better way to begin the commemoration our history!  Thank you all for coming.  We hope you will continue to go to as many of our events as you can all year long.  Keep checking the website calendar for updates in the schedule.http://www.wayland375.com.

Special events do not happen by themselves. We do need to offer a very special thank you to the many organizations that brought extra joy to our families.  Our special thanks go to Moody Street Circus from Waltham, The Clowning for Kidz Foundation who brought joy to many youngsters with their balloons and magic tricks.

The High School cheerleaders who helped in our dunk tank, the Girls Scouts who generously made 80 cakes for our Cake Walk, and of course - Stop & Shop, Boar's Head, Coke and Poland Spring our primary sponsors for our Circus and Whole Foods our sponsor for our evening Barn Dance, and our many donors - Bertucci's, Spalla's Ices, Ben & Jerry's, and Dylan & Pete's Ice Cream Truck.

They helped make the Food Pavilion delicious all day long.   Additionally, we need to thank each of the many Wayland City offices that also made the day come together - Our awesome Police and Fire Dept. – who cooked for us and kept the roads safe at all of our events, Cert, who offered us first aid, The Board of Health, The Building Dept., DPW and many more offices who all worked hand-in-hand to make this awesome day a spectacular one for all of us.

And special thank you  to all of the many, many volunteers who graciously gave of their time on the 375 Committee, our Town of Wayland and those brought in from the Town of Maynard we simply could not do any of this without your support. We hope that the closing on June 14, 2014 will be equally wonderful. Mark your calendars now and sign up early to volunteer again. We need help all year long.  Thank you from Deborah, Allison and the entire Wayland 375 Committee.

To a terrific birthday year Wayland!
