Nature Memories Workshop

This workshop, led by Rabbi Katy Allen, will begin with an introduction to nature journaling and an exploration of existing nature journals. We will then remember experiences in nature from our childhood and adolescence, record these memories through words and/or drawings, and connect the memories to poetry, writings, or other meaningful texts. We will take a meditative walk outdoors, watching, listening, and then recording – through words, drawings, or photographs – the sights and sounds that grab us. Afterward, we will explore connections between our childhood memories and our experiences during this walk or another recent experience of nature, and we will add these to our nature journals.

Participants are invited to bring cameras, personal drawing materials, favorite books of poetry, nature writing, sacred text, or anything else that may add to or enrich their experience or their journal entry.

This workshop is co-sponsored by Open Spirit: A Place of Hope, Health, and Harmony and the Nature Chaplaincy Program of Ma'yan Tikvah - A Wellspring of Hope.
