Four Wayland Residents Graduate from The Rivers School

Four locals received diplomas from the Weston-based academy in a ceremony held Friday, June 10.

Four Wayland residents were among the 83 students to graduate from The Rivers School in Weston on Friday, June 10.
 
Caroline Barns excelled in the sciences at Rivers, taking AP Biology her senior year and completing a summer science internship at chemical engineering company Reactive Innovations. During the internship, Caroline performed research and worked to produce technology that could help procure clean water for developing countries. Caroline was a member of Rivers’ tour guide program, the service council, and Model U.N. She is interested in chemistry, business and pushing to provide clean water and healthy food to those who may not have access to those resources. The daughter of Timothy and Catherine Barns, Caroline will attend the University of Notre Dame in the fall.
 
Elaina Bell cultivated her aptitude for science during her time at Rivers, taking part in a summer internship at Reactive Innovations and challenging herself within the science curriculum. She also excelled in the arts and won numerous awards for her drawings and ceramic pieces. Elaina played varsity lacrosse and is an avid horseback rider. She traveled to Thailand where she spent time at an elephant reserve, and for her senior project, she performed community service at a local hospital. Elaina is the daughter of Michael and Elizabeth Bell. She will attend Boston College in the fall.
 
Elizabeth (“Ellie”) Jenkins was a dedicated athlete and community service participant during her time at Rivers. She played varsity basketball for four years and varsity lacrosse for three years. Ellie also participated in a service trip to New Orleans during her sophomore year, and worked with the Heated Lions, a basketball program for kids with special needs. Her favorite subjects were English and anatomy. Ellie is an avid sailor and also does work for her church. The daughter of Geoffrey and Dorothy Jenkins, Ellie will attend Elon University in the fall.
 
Gabriel (“Gabe”) Zetter was strong in academics, achieving high honor roll and earning membership in the Cum Laude Society at graduation. He played varsity football for three years and took two service trips to Peru, delivering school and medical supplies to a remote village through a nonprofit his mother helped launch. During his junior year, Gabe also went on a service trip to Romania where he volunteered at an orphanage. The son of Bruce Zetter and Sally Ourieff, Gabe will attend Colgate University this fall.
