K9 Star and His State Trooper Partner Graduate From AK-9 Training

The canine and Trooper Marc Reidy graduated from a training course at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Massachusetts State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit Trooper Marc J Reidy and his new partner accelerant detection canine (AK-9) Star graduated from their six-week basic training course at the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) AK-9 Training Program in Front Royal, Virginia.

Trooper Reidy and AK-9 Star rejoin the Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit’s West Team and provide an AK-9 capability to federal, state and local fire investigators throughout the Commonwealth, said the announcement.

With Star added to the squad, the Mass. State Police now have seven AK-9 teams.

State Fire Marshal Coan said in a statement, “We congratulate Trooper Reidy and AK-9 Star for the successful completion of their training and we look forward to the great work they will do serving the citizens of the Commonwealth.”
