New Wayland Police Officer Brings Squad To Maximum

Kenneth Davis was sworn in this week as a Wayland police officer.

WAYLAND, MA — Wayland's police department has a a new officer on the squad.

Chief Robert Irving announced that Kenneth E. Davis II has been appointed as a police officer, and he had been selected for this position in July of 2016.

Officer Davis graduated from the M. P.T.C. Reading Regional Police Academy’s 26th Recruit Course on Feb. 16.

Officer Davis graduated from Nashoba Regional High School in 2007. He joined the United States Army in August of 2007 and served for five years in the field of intelligence collection, including tours of duty in both Afghanistan and Iraq, said the release. While on active duty, Officer Davis received a number of awards and commendations, including the Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Combat Action Badge. At the conclusion of his active duty, Officer Davis enlisted in the U. S. Army Reserves and is based out of Fort Devens.

Prior to joining the Wayland Police Department, Officer Davis was a deputy sheriff with the Worcester County Sheriff’s Department and was responsible for prisoner transportation throughout Massachusetts.

"The hiring of Officer Davis brings the overall strength of the department to its authorized level of 23," said Irving in the statement.
