Parents of Preschoolers Invited to 'Race to Nowhere' Screening
The documentary is screening Feb. 15.

The Children's Way and Wayland Creative Preschools are hosting a screening of the documentary "Race to Nowhere" on Feb. 15.
"Race to Nowhere is a call to mobilize families, educators, and policy makers to challenge current assumptions on how to best prepare the youth of America to become healthy, bright, contributing and leading citizens," according to the film's website.
The screening, which will take place at the Wayland Town Building at 7 p.m., will be followed by a discussion with Dossie Kayn, Psy.D of the Wayland Youth and Family Services.

Julie Ellenbogen, co-chair of the The Children's Way Parent Organization, said via email that this particular screening is intended for parents of preschool students, unlike prior screenings of the documentary in town that were intended primarily for parents of middle and high school students.
Ellenbogen said she saw the film last year when it was screened at Wayland High School.

"It occurred to me that most of the parents attending the movie all had children in middle school and high school and felt like it was too late to make a change," Ellenbogen said via email. "We thought that, if we showed this movie to parents with younger [children], they could still make an active change in their children's life."
The screening is free, but registration is required. Register at rtnwaylandma2012.eventbrite.com.
