1. Invasive plants are degrading Wayland's ecosystem (waylandpost.org) — Wayland officials are urging homeowners to help fight invasive plants that are spreading from yards into wetlands, streams, and conservation trails across town. The Conservation Department and Commission manage invasives on public land, but stress that real progress depends on residents removing problem species, replanting natives, and coordinating any work near protected areas to protect Wayland's broader ecosystem and Green Community goals.
   

2. Planning Board (waylandpost.org) — Wayland residents following the proposed supportive-living project at 1 Hobbs Road should know the Planning Board has pushed the site plan hearing to October 21, warning that deadline extensions are nearly over. Board members want a more detailed sight-line study reflecting real driving speeds and local stop signs, while also advancing new accessory dwelling unit rules and their FY26 annual report.
   

3. Historic District Commission (waylandpost.org) — Wayland's Historic District Commission has approved new replacement windows at 34 Bow Road, but only on the condition that exterior applied muntins be added to any window visible from the street. Commissioners said the exterior detail is needed to preserve the traditional divided-light look and shadow lines in the historic district, and the homeowners aim to complete the work before winter.
   

4. Wayland football opens season with 35-0 win over Hopkinton (metrowestdailynews.com) — Wayland High's football team kicked off its season at home with a dominant 35-0 shutout of Hopkinton, highlighted by multiple touchdowns from senior captains including quarterback Mikael Johansson and running back Brajae Walton. The game in Wayland also featured a September 11 recognition ceremony with local veterans, first responders, and the Wayland Police comfort dog Archie on the field at halftime.
