Public Invited to Wayland High Ribbon-Cutting Aug. 30

The official ribbon-cutting at the new Wayland High School will take place just before the 2012-13 school year begins.

Students began attending classes at the new in January, but given the mid-school year nature of its opening, an official ribbon-cutting and dedication have yet to occur.

That will change on Aug. 30, as the public gathers for a ceremony in the commons area of the new facility.

High School Building Committee Chair Lea Anderson told School Committee members Monday night that the ceremony would be "very low key," with comments from Anderson herself, School Committee Chair Barb Fletcher, Board of Selectmen Chair John Bladon, Superintendent Paul Stein, WHS Principal Pat Tutwiler and Executive Director of the Massachusetts School Building Authority Jack McCarthy.

Following the comments, WHS students will offer tours of the new facilities.

The ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony will take place Aug. 30 at 10 a.m. in the commons area of the North Building.
