School Committee Holds Public Meeting to Address Wayland School Start Times

Think students should go to school later? Think it's good as is? Attend this meeting and voice your input.

WAYLAND, MA—For the second time, the Wayland School Committee is welcoming the public's input on the issue of school start times at a community meeting.

The committee is holding this meeting on Nov. 29 at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. at the Town Building to explore the changing of the Wayland school start times at each of the schools, addressing the American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations.

"The American Academy of Pediatrics recognizes insufficient sleep in adolescents as an important public health issue that significantly affects the health and safety, as well as the academic success, of our nation’s middle and high school students," said the AAP in a release.

"We will be hosting two additional public meetings to discuss the rationale for exploring a change and the challenges we will need to address and mitigate to make any change successful," said an announcement. "We invite all Wayland families to attend one of these events to learn more and provide feedback. We hope you will join us.
