Wayland first responders have transported five people so far from the facility for treatment.
WAYLAND, MA —There was a suspected norovirus outbreak at an assisted living facility in Wayland on Tuesday morning
Wayland police and fire crews responded to numerous reports of norovirus symptoms at an assisted living facility at 10 Green Way. The address is home to The Residence at Paine Estate, Miriam Boyd Parlin Hospice Residence, and Parmenter Community Health Care - Wayland.
Norovirus is highly contagious and causes vomiting and diarrhea, according to Mayo Clinic. While most people with norovirus illness recover within one to three days, living in close quarters, such as a nursing home, increases the risk of infection.
