Tools, Equipment Stolen from Habitat from Humanity Site in Wayland

Thieves broke in to a site destined for affordable housing for those in need.

Habitat for Humanity, and Wayland police, are looking for answers after a site on Stonebridge Road was broken into overnight on Thursday, the thieves taking $1,500 in tools and other equipment.

The group said it is “deeply saddened to announce that sometime after midnight on Sept. 17, its equipment trailer on the Wayland build site was broken into, and robbed”

The plate over the hasp had been pried off, and intruders smashed the lock to get into the trailer.

A generator and air compressor were stolen along with more than $1,500 worth of tools.

“As the trailer was parked on our home building site in Wayland,” said Habitat for Humanity’s Deborah Huegel, “it is likely that the thieves had an idea of what was in there, but there is no way to be sure.”
