VIDEO: A July Snow Day at Happy Hollow

The annual event features snow, winter-themed games and, of course, ice cream.

Brookline Ice & Coal delivered 7,000 pounds of "snow-ice" Friday morning to in Wayland for the annual Pegasus Snow Day.

Pegasus is the summer program of Wayland Public Schools and features a variety of field trips, themed days and events throughout the summer.

Snow Day, however, is no ordinary themed day.

For a few hours on Snow Day, kids ages 3 through rising sixth graders donned hats and mittens (with their shorts and tank tops) for a time of sledding down a pile of "snow-ice" crafted into a slope behind the school.

As groups rotated through various stations, they had an opportunity to sled' "snowshoe" with giant, foam feet; "bobsled" on wheeled gym mats; and search for Klondike gold.

All that activity, of course, required a snack stop in the cafeteria where had donated cartons of ice cream for students and staff to enjoy.
