Wayland Kids Can Now Learn Computer Coding After School
The Wayland School Community Programs will start a coding class for students in grades 5-8. Deadline to sign up is Feb. 27.

HTML, CSS3, Javascript: These computer coding languages can be difficult even for adults to grasp, but Wayland fifth through eighth graders will soon have a chance to show their coding chops.
Wayland School Community Programs, which offers after-school activities for students in Wayland, will soon offer its first set of coding classes.
The school program has partnered with CampCodeKidz, a business started by Wayland resident Rian Sousa to teach young kids to learn computer coding languages. Sousa believes anyone can learn how to code with his easy-to-use e-learning platform.

The coding series, which includes eight classes, is being offered to fifth-graders at Happy Hallow on Tuesdays and at Claypit Hill Schools on Thursdays. Sixth- through eighth-graders at Wayland Middle School can enroll in Wednesday classes.
Sousa, a software developer with 20-plus years of experience, will lead the classes which cost $160 for each student who enrolls.
