Wayland Library Begins Curbside Lending
For the first time in months, Wayland residents can take out items from the library beginning June 1.

WAYLAND, MA — The Wayland Free Library began offering curbside pickup on Monday. There are some rules to follow, but it's a step toward restoring service after the library had to shut down on March 16 due to the pandemic.
Starting June 1, patrons can plan a hold on an item online or by calling 508-358-2311. Once the item is ready, patrons can make an appointment to pick it up. There won't be any face-to-face contact with librarians, and the library is reminding borrowers to practice social distancing when arriving at the building.
"You MUST have an appointment to get your items," the library said in an update Friday. "There will be no service at the door, no physical interaction with a librarian. Of course, we know you’ll practice safe social distancing if you arrive at the same time as another patron. Unfortunately, we still can’t accept returns, but we expect to do so later in the summer.

Patrons will be limited to items that are in the library right now — inter-library loans are still unavailable. There's also a 10-item limit.
The Wayland library also won't be collecting items for return yet. That will come later in the summer.
