Weather-Delayed MLK Celebration Draws Crowd on New Date
The Martin Luther King Jr. Community Celebration took place Friday night at Wayland Middle School.
The weather didn't get in the way this time and the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Celebration finally had its day.
Originally scheduled for Jan. 21, snow and ice pushed the event to Friday, Feb. 4, but the crowd still turned out for the dinner and concert at Wayland Middle School.
“We do it in memory of Dr. King," said Mabel Reid-Wallace, director of Wayland METCO, which sponsored the event. "I think it’s an important time for us to take a pause to remember what he has contributed to this country. This year’s theme is 'Love Fest' – we need to start loving each other again.”
