Actively Opposing Destructive Democrat Policies And Candidates

My name is Joshua Gary Norman and I am running to serve as your next Republican State Committee Man in the First Middlesex & Norfolk District (Newton, Brookline & Wellesley (Precincts A, C, D, E & H)).

Here is what sets me apart from the other three candidates running for Republican State Committee Man in the First Middlesex & Norfolk District.

• I am the only consistent, principled conservative candidate for State Committee Man,
• I have the best ideas to help rebuild and revitalize the Republican Party in Massachusetts and in Newton, Brookline and Wellesley and
• I have the best record of helping conservative candidates win contested elections and participating in ballot question signature drives for conservative causes. Some of my past and present projects include the following:

I am currently working with Newton Republican City Committee Corresponding Secretary Deb Shapiro on overseeing our city’s Charter Commission Charter Review process. We are working together to ensure that the Newton Charter Commissioners do not use the Charter Review process to engage in more left-wing mischief to increase the size, scope, cost and power of government over the citizens. Process Matters!

As Vice President and Research Director of the Newton Taxpayers Association, I will be putting together a guide similar to MassFiscalScorecard in which we rate all the Newton city councilors based on their voting record for fiscal and role of government issues. We created a beta test of this guide for the 2015 contested elections in Newton, and look to roll it out for 2016. I will also work with the Brookline and Wellesley RTCs to help them in creating similar guides for their communities. I’m also creating a Voter Guide for the March Primary to show where the candidates in contested races stand on important intraparty-related issues as well as highlighting their principles as applicable.

I am the only candidate for State Committee Man in the First Middlesex & Norfolk district who collected signatures to put a ballot question petition before the legislature to End Common Core in Massachusetts. I served as the Newton city co-captain with Sande Young for End Common Core Massachusetts and I think Ending Common Core is something that the Newton, Brookline and Wellesley RTCs should wholeheartedly embrace. We want to restore our best in the nation educational standards, and break the Democrats stranglehold on the education issue.

When my Ward Committee Chairman resigned in October one month before signatures were due, I took steps to ensure that the Ward 4 Ward Committee was able to field enough candidates and signatures to get on the ballot and keep our ward committee organization. I have begun recruiting to rebuild the Ward Committee and hope to meet all 500 Republicans in Ward 4 to let them know that there is a Republican presence and identity in the neighborhood.

I also serve as the Treasurer for the Massachusetts Faith and Freedom Coalition Affiliate. We are formally organizing a New England-based chapter affiliate of the national Faith and Freedom Coalition, with the help of FFC’s New Jersey Chapter and National Field Director Jon Harbison. We believe America’s greatness lies not in the federal government but in the character of our people — the simple virtues of faith, freedom, hard work, marriage, family, personal responsibility, and helping the least among us. If we lose sight of these values, America will cease to be great. We found that only 33% of people-of-faith vote in a general election. As MAFFCA’s Treasurer, I want to expand the voter base to include these people and as a candidate for GOP State Committee Man, I want to persuade them to vote for principled Republicans who will roll back the destructive policies of the Democrat Party. I received 11 raw signatures to get on the ballot from my local synagogue but the city clerk only certified three of the signatures because many of the people were not registered to vote, including two of the rabbis.

In the 2015 election cycle, I helped make phone calls for Geoff Diehl for his State Senate race and made the motion for my local RCC to donate $200 to his campaign. The MassGOP spent over $300,000 on the new voter contact system from Dynamic Solutions LLC and I want to make sure that the campaigns are technically savvy enough to ensure that they do not call the same voters four times in one day, lest they run the risk of alienating friendly voters. Geoff Diehl is the hardest working and nicest guy on Beacon Hill and I’d like to see him replace Brad Jones as House GOP Leader so we have a caucus leader who is willing to stand for roll call votes.

I also helped Newton City Councilor Jim Cote and Newton School Committee Candidate Susan Huffman with their GOTV efforts. Jim won re-election in a tight race, by a margin of 94 votes. I had been involved with Cote’s campaign since he first ran in 2013. When Cote introduced me to Republican gubernatorial candidate Mark Fisher as his “data guy” Fisher smiled and said “I can see why”. Although Susan was not able to defeat her Democrat opponent, I helped her obtain the highest vote share for a Republican School Committee candidate since 2003.

Other candidates I helped win include State Rep Shawn Dooley, Sutton Selectman Jesse Limanek and State Rep David DeCoste. DeCoste was a principled conservative who won his primary by 26 votes and his general election by 49 votes even though he faced the following disadvantages:

· He was outraised and outspent by both his primary and general election opponents

· His primary opponent was endorsed by local area GOP Establishment operatives like Holly Robichaud, Matt Sisk, Christina Cedrone, Gordie Andrews, Ron Kaufman and Mark Townsend

· He started his campaign two months after his opponents and

· He lived in the smallest town in the district.

David won because he ran on conservative ideas and principles. I am running on reform-oriented ideas and conservative principles, not on personality or party politics.

I served as the Co-Chairman of Moving Newton Forward With Fiscal Responsibility, which opposed the 2013 Newton override. We achieved 45% of the vote against the 2013 override despite coming together only within the last six weeks of the election cycle and despite facing a popular mayor who had sold the override as “reform from reformers” because he reduced spending growth for his first three years in office. This was the highest vote share against an override achieved by any of the three towns in the district in the last three years. I want to help give the local Republican Committees the tools to fight overrides, and then replace their tax-hiking elected officials with candidates who understand proper fiscal stewardship.

I have secured the endorsements of 45 local Republicans, conservatives and reform-oriented activists who recognize my commitment to rebuilding and revitalizing our party. Join us, and let us move our party forward towards winning by actively opposing the Democrats and their destructive policies. We need to actively oppose destructive Democrat policies to increase our numbers, not wait to increase our numbers before opposing the destructive Democrats.
