Albert Levin's Steel Reflections Art Exhibits This Month
Artist's work will stay at Wellesley Free Library Through August.
Al Levin's this month's artist showcasing his work at the Wellesley Free Library, and this time it's not just the art that's different - it's the technique.
"About two years ago, I passed a large polished steel sculpture which caught my eye. I paused and took a picture. The result surprised me. Instead of an image of the actual sculpture, I had captured a reflection - a kaleidoscope of abstract shapes and colors. I took another picture ... and another," Levin wrote in his artist's statement.
Levin started photographing the images, which he said create a sort of Rorschach for the viewer - unlocking memories and evoking imaginary images. They're shot with a point and shoot camera

Levin, also a cardiologist, said he often saw a variety of echocardiograms - ultrasound-generated motion pictures of the heart, which he said seem similar to his art.
