The 2012-2013 season continues to be a victorious one for the Wellesley Wrestling Team. The Raiders solidified their overall 13-1 record when they beat Milton Tuesday night in a hard won victory. The team started strong with a win by Hamed Nilforoshan ’15 in the 106 lb. weight class. Milton gained the upper hand in the 113 and 120 weight classes, but Wellesley came roaring back with a pin by Eric Pinsker-Smith ’14 at 126. Critical wins by AJ Grignaffini ’15 at 170, and Thomas Nocka ’15 at 195 helped the team move ahead while key pins by Clayton Krueger ’13 at 145, Angel Blaise ’13 at 160, Dan Farina ’13 at 220 and Luke Mastrianni ‘14 at 285 pushed the team to success.
This past Saturday, Wellesley made their mark when they swept the Watertown Quad. At the 5-team gathering, Wellesley decisively took all 4 meets. The Raiders defeated Watertown 54-15, Pentucket 34-16, Georgetown 36-16 , and North Quincy 52-0.
Under Head Coach Jesse Davis, the wrestling team continues to find success this season, winning 13 meets, losing only to Natick in a close 30-43 match on December 19th.

With the help of Assistant Coaches Lou Grignaffini, Carmen Rondash, Mark Yanchewski, and Grant Hightower, Davis has developed this young group of grapplers into a strong 46 member team that consistently generates crucial wins at both the JV and Varsity level.

Wellesley takes to the mat again on Saturday, January 12th at the Natick tournament.
