Deputy Police Chief Brooks to Become New Norwood Chief
Wellesley's Deputy Chief of Police Bill Brooks will take over in Norwood May 1.

After a weekend in which it was announced that the school system could be , it was made official that the would be losing one this spring.
Wellesley Deputy Chief of Police William G. Brooks III has accepted the job as Norwood’s Chief of Police, according to Barbara Searle, chair of the Board of Selectmen, at a meeting last night.
“We are thrilled for him,” she said. “Norwood is getting an excellent chief of police, but it is very bittersweet for Wellesley. Bill has been a great chief of police for the past 12 years and he will be greatly missed.”

Searle said he officially begins the Norwood job May 1.
As deputy chief in Wellesley, Brooks assisted the Board of Selectmen in myriad ways. Most recently, Brooks helped inform the board on the history of the . Special Town Meeting last year voted in favor of a measure that could ultimately lead toward allowing restaurants with between pending a town vote.
