Dietrick Becomes Wellesley's All-Time Leading Scorer
Wellesley senior scores 1,280th point in the Raiders 68-34 win over Norwood

Friday night, in front of a packed Larson Gym, Wellesley guard Blake Dietrick made “Senior Night” a memorable evening, as she passed Maggie Miller to become the new all-time leading scorer for the girls’ basketball team.
Needing 12 points heading into the game to pass Miller’s mark of 1,279, Dietrick drained a three-pointer early in the 2nd quarter of last night’s 68-34 win over Norwood to set the new record.
“It feels great, I couldn’t have done it without my teammates, all of my state champ teammates who came before me and pushed me hard in practice and helped me get to where I am today, ” said Dietrick following the game.

The achievement comes one week after she scored 35 points against Newton North, a career-high for the Princetown-bound senior, who was only made aware earlier this week that she was closing in on the mark.
“I didn’t know that I was so close until after (Tuesday’s) Walpole game, because we focus on one game at a time. After that, I started thinking of it a little bit, but our goal for the game was for us to win, and it would happen whenever it happened.”

Kristin Cieri, who has coached Blake with the varsity team since her freshman season reflected, on her remarkable career.
“I think it’s great, she’s worked hard, she’s been a big part of our program and all of the players that have scored one-thousand points have had outstanding careers. Blake is just a great player, a great scorer and a great competitor, she’s worked hard and she deserves it.”
Dietrick scored 18 points on the night, two behind Tierra Allen who finished with a game-high 20 to lead the Raiders to the win. Wellesley will look for their 15th win of the season Tuesday night on the road against Milton.
