📰 News we're reading
• Spotted lanternflies are loving Wellesley this summer (theswellesleyreport.com) — Spotted lanternflies are showing up in big numbers around Wellesley's trees, including at Centennial and the Weston Road and Brookside community gardens, but officials say there's no change in state protocols yet. Residents are urged to report sightings, remove tree-of-heaven plants, and squish lanternflies and scrape off egg masses when possible to help protect local greenery.

• Wellesley Police Dept. ends Flock license plate reader trial early amidst 'overwhelmingly' changed landscape (theswellesleyreport.com) — Wellesley Police have pulled the town's lone Flock license plate reader camera from Route 9 near Route 16, ending the trial a year early amid growing privacy concerns and a shifting national landscape. The department will stick with its existing mobile LPRs, which have helped solve local cases, while noting the Flock system never produced a major breakthrough here.

The broader rankings highlight Boston Latin as the top school in Massachusetts and show the state leading the country in the share of high schools placing in the top quarter nationally.
