On Thursday, March 14 at 4:30 p.m. and Friday, March 15 at 7:00 p.m., Wellesley Middle School drama students will sing and dance their way to stardom with their performance of Fame! Jr., a musical based on the hit motion picture, which is set in the 1980s at New York City's celebrated High School for the Performing Arts.
The musical follows the bittersweet but inspiring story of a diverse group of music, dance and acting students as they commit to four years of grueling artistic and academic work in order to achieve their dream of “hitting the heights” and putting their “name in lights.”
This is a dance-heavy show sure to delight and entertain all, with a 47-member cast performing in 8 large ensemble numbers, involving advanced choreography. With insight and humor, the show explores the issues that confront many young people today, including prejudice, identity, self-worth, literacy and perseverance.
