Preliminary figures from Wellesley Town Clerk Kathleen Nagle showed the race between Creem and Democratic Challenger Charles Rudnick at 739 to 433 in Creem's favor, with 63 percent of the vote. According to Creem's campaign, in Newton, the numbers were 7,791 to 3,194 in Creem's favor, with 70 percent of the vote. In Brookline, the numbers were 4,071 to 1,171 in Creem's favor, with 77 percent of the vote.
