Health Department Shuts Down Food Service At Community Center
Council on Aging moves to Town Hall, continues to provide food through Meals on Wheels.
The Wellesley Council on Aging has been operating from Town Hall since 8:30 a.m., and its food program has been shut down since Tuesday by an order issued from the Board of Health Monday.
"There are some facility-related issues that need to be addressed," said COA Director Gayle Thieme. She said her office received word of the order late Monday, and shut down food services at the department's offices within the Wellesley Community Center Tuesday.
On Friday morning, she said, the department began operating from Town Hall. This afternoon, a note on the Council on Aging office read that the department was at Town Hall temporarily, and listed the number there: 781-235-3961.

Ketchen was unable to provide details on the order, except to say it had to do with the Community Center building itself. He said the Health Department had been working with the Community Center this week to fix the problem.
Thieme said the COA will continue to operate out of Town Hall on Monday, but she hopes the problem will be resolved soon, to avoid disrupting the department's services.
