Power Restored in Wellesley: Police

Wellesley Police say power has been restored in the town following a large outage early Monday afternoon.

WELLESLEY, MA - Power was restored in Wellesley Monday after a large outage impacted the Wellesley Hills and Lower Falls area, police said.

Police previously responded to a large power outage in the town early Monday afternoon.

A possible NStar supply line failure may have contributed to the loss of power; the Wellesley Municipal Light Plant worked to switch the town to an alternate power source, according to police.

Wellesley was not the only area experiencing major outages; earlier in the day Eversource reported more than 5,000 of its customers in Newton were without power and a power issue on the Green Line contributed to "minor delays" on the D branch.
