Last Day To Register To Vote In Primary Is Wednesday

Town Clerk's office open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Aug. 25 for residents to register.

There are two days left to register to vote in the State Primary, Sept. 14, in which Democrats Charles Rudnick, and incumbent State Senator  Cynthia Creem will vie for their party's nomination.

The winner of that contest will run unopposed for state senator for the First Middlesex and Norfolk district seat (including Newton, Brookline and Wellesley precincts A, C, D, and E ).

To register to vote, according to the Town Clerk's website, a resident must be a U.S. and MA citizen, and be at least 18 years old on or before the next election.  The Town Clerk's Office is open extended hours on Wednesday -  8 a.m. - 8 p.m. - to accept registrations on the last day to register. Once at the Town Clerk's office, residents need to complete an affidavit of registration which must be answered truthfully under the penalty of perjury.  The questions on the affidavit will include your name, residence and date of birth, and identification number (Massachusetts Drivers License Number preferred).

Registering for the primary will also register voters for the State election Nov. 2 and the annual town election March 1.
