Newton-Wellesley Hospital Names New President

Michael Jaff, who currently serves as the medical director of the Fireman Vascular Center at MassGeneral, will begin his tenure in the fall.

WELLESLEY, MA – Newton-Wellesley hospital has named Dr. Michael Jaff its next president, effective this fall.

Jaff, a Newton resident, has served as the medical director of the Fireman Vascular Center at Massachusetts General Hospital since 2004. While there, he helped organize the MGH Center for Specialized Servcies, which integrates international and executive health programs, and also serves as the center's medical director.

Jaff has been instrumental in improving the clinical process at the hospital and founded MGH's Vascular Ultrasound Core Laboratory, which is the world's largest clinical trials core lab for non-invasive vascular imaging.

"This is a step forward for Newton-Wellesley Hospital,” Earl M. Collier, Jr., chairman of the hospital’s Board of Directors, said in a press release. "Michael Jaff brings his understanding of the importance of community hospitals, his enthusiasm for tackling the challenges ahead, and his reputation for hard work, problem solving collaboration, and approachability. These qualities made him the ideal candidate for this role."

Additionally, Jaff is a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School. He is board certified in both internal and vascular medicine and has extensive experience in private practice.

Jaff was recently honored with the Jess R. Young, MD Lifetime Educator Award in Vascular Medicine from the Society for Vascular Medicine.
