Newton-Wellesley Hospital Steps Up Bans Over Enterovirus Fears

The hospital has new precautions in place.

Newton-Wellesley Hospital is the latest to tighten its policies, now barring people younger than 19 from visiting specified units, the hospital announced on its website. The units include pediatric, nursery, maternity and special care, and the ban is temporary.

“To limit the spread of Enterovirus D-68, a respiratory virus that primarily affects children, adolescents and young adults, Newton-Wellesley Hospital is putting temporary visitor restrictions in place,” reads the statement.
