Rash of Burglaries Hits Wellesley
Wellesley police said a series of burglaries took place Wednesday afternoon at unoccupied residences.

WELLESLEY, MA – A spate of break-ins hit two Wellesley neighborhoods on Wednesday, police said.
According to police, homes in the Windsor and Lincoln Road area, as well as the Garden Road and Surrey Lane area were burgled in the late afternoon and early evening hours. In one instance, the perpetrators forced entry into the home and in another, the suspects entered through an unlocked door and window.
A similar chain of break-ins occurred in Weston over Thanksgiving weekend, and other communities may have been hit.

- Use outdoor and indoor lighting on timers that come on in the late afternoon. Avoid having the completely dark house on your street which clearly indicates no one is home, especially now that it becomes dark around 4:30 PM.
- Walk around your house and make sure all your windows and doors are locked. Pay attention to seldom used windows that may have been left unlocked from the summer. A screen covering a window can easily be removed and entry can be gained into your home.
- Consider alternate locations for package deliveries in out of sight places. A stack of packages at your front door is an easy target for thieves. It also shows that you are not home.
- Finally, if you see something suspicious in your neighborhood or at a neighbor’s house, call 911.
Officers will inspect your residence and make recommendations on how to improve your home's safety and security. Appointments can be made by contacting Officer Kathy Poirier at 781-235-1212.
