Rescued Wellesley Beaver Recovered And Released

The beaver was cleared by the Tufts Wildlife Clinic and released back into the wild.

WELLESLEY, MA — A Wellesley beaver who was rescued earlier this month along the Charles River has recovered and was released into the wild. The Animal Rescue League of Boston said the beaver was cleared by the Tufts Wildlife Clinic and released on March 19.

On March 5, the animal was spotted,hulled up in one spot for four days at the Cordingly Dam Fish Passage along the Charles River. The ARL of Boston worked alongside Wellesley Animal Control to rescue the beaver from the 15 foot ridge.

Officials said the animal wasn't injured but most likely malnourished since he spent days without moving.

The beaver was released by Williams Street, between Upper and Lower Falls.
