Days prior to the Sept. 14 primary, the Democratic state senate incumbent and challenger for the First Middlesex and Norfolk district were hard at work.
"We're going on all cylinders right now," said challenger Charles Rudnick late Friday afternoon, the sounds of an active office in the background.
"I have a house full of people," for an organization meeting, said Senator Cynthia Creem Friday night. "It's pretty busy."

One of the two Democrats will run uncontested Nov. 2 for the district seat, which includes Newton, Brookline and Wellesley precincts A, C, D, and E.
Voters will need to show at one of four school polling locations: Bates (A), Upham (C), Schofield (D) and Fiske (E) for that race, but there will be races for voters in precincts B, F and G, - at polling places Sprague School, Dana Hall's Shipley Center, 142 Grove St., and the Wellesley Free Library respectively - as well.

There will be another six primary races for voters to consider, according to the Town Clerk's website:
Democrats Barney Frank and Rachel Brown are competing to see who'll get the nomination for the Fourth Congressional District. The winner there will face whoever wins the contest between Republicans Sean DM Bielat and Earl H. Sholley.
Stephen J. Murphy and Steven Grossman will vie for the Democratic nomination for State Treasurer, with the winner facing Republican Karyn Polito.
For Auditor, Democrats Suzanne M. Bump, Guy William Glodis and Mike Lake are campaigning for their names on the November ballot. For the Republican party, so are Mary Z. Connaughton and Kamal Jain.
Democrats Kelly A. Timilty and Robert Jubinville are competing to see who will run unopposed in November for Councilor on the Governor's Council, representing precincts B, F and G.
Democrats Marilyn Petitto Devaney and Corey A. Belanger are competing for Councilor on the Governor's Council, representing precincts A, C, D and E.
There are three Democrats vying to see who will run unopposed for Norfolk District Attorney: Michael Chinman, Joseph R. Driscoll and Michale W. Morrissey.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., according to the Town Clerk's website. Voters who are registered as Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, or are Unenrolled (Independent) are eligible to vote in the primary.
Voters are advised that parking at the polling places may be limited at the hours of school drop off and dismissal. If possible, voters are asked to avoid elementary school polling places between 7:45 - 8:30 a.m. and 2:30-3 p.m.
