Wellesley Little League Boys Baseball Opens Season

Red Sox, Nationals square off at Reidy Field

Opening Day for Wellesley Little League Baseball started on a beautiful afternoon at Kelly I, Kelly III,  Ouellet, Schofield and Reidy Fields Saturday, April 24, with games, no fanfare.

At Reidy Field, spectators trickled in with lawn chairs around 5 p.m. as Red Sox and Nationals players warmed up on the field and listened to pep talks in the dugouts. Eric Winer, coach for the Red Sox, delivered his team's talk, and Rob Sureli, coach for the Nationals, gathered his team in a semicircle to brief his team on the game

A short distance nearby, the sporadic traffic on Washington Street passed unnoticed as one of the first five games of the season got started.
