Wellesley Man Pleads Not Guilty To Cyclist Hit-and-Run

21-year-old Connor Campanelli allegedly struck the bicyclist Friday evening on Hampshire Road.

WELLESLEY, MA - A Wellesley man has plead not guilty to serious charges stemming from a hit-and-run on Friday.

Connor Campanelli, 21, turned himself in to police Friday after a witness placed him at the scene of the accident. According to law enforcement, Campanelli hit a 47-year-old Framingham man riding his bike on Hampshire Road while the two were traveling in opposite directions. The man was unconscious and unresponsive at the scene but was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Witnesses described the vehicle fleeing the scene as a grey Toyota pickup; police later identified Campanelli as the driver.

He faces charges of operating under the influence (and negligently, causing serious bodily injury); leaving the scene of a personal injury collision; negligent operation of a motor vehicle; speeding; and failure to keep right.

At a hearing today the state requested to continue the $3,000 bail set over the weekend. A judge has also ordered Campanelli to remain drug-and alcohol-free and cease driving while the case is ongoing.
