Wellesley Public Schools Canceled Ahead Of Thursday Storm

No school for Wellesley.

WELLESLEY, MA — The Wellesley Public Schools will be closed on Thursday, January 4 because of the storm headed straight for the region. All after school activities are also cancelled.

Cue the collective cheering.

If you're a parent wondering what to do with your child on that day, the Department of Public Works has a suggestion. Adopt a hydrant to shovel out?

Well, they didn't suggest it specifically for children, but the DPW and Wellesley Fire-Rescue Department are asking for the public's assistance in clearing fire hydrants of snow in your neighborhood. There are more than 1,400 hydrants in Wellesley and each one is potentially vital in the event of an emergency, they say.
