Wellesley Taking State Budget In Stride

Strother: Taxes won't be affected by switch in state aid.

Gov. Deval Patrick signed a $27.6 billion budget for Fiscal Year 2011 on June 30 that brought more changes to Wellesley's state aid, but Finance Director Sheryl Strother said the new figures won't alter local taxes.

"This is not at all unexpected," Strother said. Though Wellesley received $32,642 less than anticipated for the nearly $120,000,000 2011 budget, the difference will be made up without altering tax bills to residents.

"We continued to monitor the budget during the legislative process, and we aren't surprised by this," Strother said.
